Happy April. We are seeing many signs of spring: the cows and sheep are back in their pastures, flowers such as daffodils and tulips are blooming in the "pick-your-own" fields, and asparagus is on the menu in restaurants. Also, the fountains for drinking water are now turned on. We refill our water bottles with the fresh spring water while hiking with these. And we have found a new "sign" of spring: cautionary signs for frog crossings. Apparently, at this time of year, the frogs can be a road hazard in serious wet-weather. (And a hazard to the frogs, of course.) Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy, so I'm tempted to take the kids out looking for frogs!

Today, we had a great spring hike (although it felt more like summer!) near Laufen that took us through a couple of quiet villages and up and down hills. We took our first ride on a PostBus to get us back to our starting point -- the same company that operates the Post also operates passenger buses. They are known for the yellow color, and horn symbol. In mountainous regions, the buses use a three-tone horn sound to warn that the bus is coming (e.g. around tight mountain passes).

And with Easter approaching, we are seeing tons of chocolate bunnies in the stores. The kids can't wait to get an Easter basket!
